Jillian comes to Northwestern from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, spending many years as a member of the statistical support team for a national study of cancer survivors, which integrated medical records with patient surveys. She has worked on and published a wide range of statistical analyses alongside researchers from medical, scientific, and social science backgrounds. Jillian has worked with an extensive range of statistical regression models, including complex models taking account of non-independence of cases. She has also worked on analysis projects involving complex case-control and other sampling approaches, questionnaire design, and competing-risk survival analysis. Jillian has co-authored papers in journals in medicine and related sciences. Prior to working at Fred Hutchinson, she worked on analysis and presentation of socio-economic data in the United Kingdom. She has an MSc in Applied Stochastic Systems from University College London, and a BSc in Physics from Durham University.
Jillian is passionate about clear communication and presentation of statistical information and loves to work cooperatively in an environment where all members of the team learn from each other. She has long been involved in a range of human rights and social-equity causes, and took an active role in several diversity, equity and inclusion projects in her previous job.
When not working with data, Jillian cooks well, plays guitar badly, reads extensively, and loves the outdoors on foot and by bicycle.
