David is joining the Northwestern team after 3 years with the Data Mine organization at Purdue University. Prior to Purdue, David led an analytics organization and Delta Faucet company and held a variety of IT and Data Science rolls with John Deere & Company. His background ranges from support IT to data science and experiential learning. As part of The Data Mine organization, David and his team helped to build out documentation on the open-source Examples Book website as well as a free technical architecture to enable students from all majors and years of study to develop skills in analytics and data science. David and team also helped to facilitate analytics workshops to many different user groups both within Purdue and across other institutions. Many of the opportunities focused on providing analytics resources to members of minoritized communities.

David has a passion for helping to enable students and researchers’ ability to learn and conduct their research. He is involved in the PEARC (Practice and Experience in Advanced Research Computing) Conference Student Program. He also enjoys being involved in student organizations to better interface with student needs and provide resources for their continued development. He is also interested in continued learning and discussion on the topic of the ethical use of machine learning and AI as well as accessibility in analytics and visualizations.
