Clear the Clutter (in 1800 Sherman)

As we begin August, discussions with Facilities are ongoing to finalize the new 1800 Sherman office space footprint and renovation timeline. While those conversations advance, we need to continue the clean-out process underway on floors one, two, five, and six. While much progress has been made, there is more to do, and by completing the necessary clean-up now, we can expedite the start of future renovations once the details are finalized.

As a reminder, we are asking all 1800 Sherman staff members to:

  • Take home any personal items in your workspace.
  • Continue recycling or shredding any unneeded papers. We increased the frequency of pick-ups with the company that collects our shredded paper. If teams need additional bins or a pick-up, please contact Sue Nardini at susann@northwestern.edu.
  • Drop off any computer or other related technology equipment (e.g., monitors, printers, etc.) that is no longer needed (e.g., broken, outdated, or unneeded) at the established drop-off points throughout the floors. The Endpoint Device Management team is reviewing collected items to evaluate them for future reuse. Please do not disconnect or remove your functioning monitors, keyboard, mouse, docking stations, etc.
  • Remove and purge any items you store outside your workspace in filing cabinets or other shared spaces. This includes tagging and placing the item in the established drop-off location, shredding the information, taking the item home, etc.

Updates on Other Common Questions

Please also be aware that we are discussing the possibility of making unused monitors and other technology available for individuals to use at home. We are also working with Facilities and their vendors to review various locker options and will provide updates on that topic when we have more to share.

Thank you for your efforts to date. Please continue sharing feedback using the NUITWorkplaceFeedback@northwestern.edu address to ensure your voice is heard.
