Taking Reservations: New IT Conference Room in Chicago
Over the past six months, Northwestern IT invested in renovations for a new conference space in downtown Chicago. The space—Wieboldt Hall 421—is now available for any IT staff member to reserve via their Outlook Calendar.
Why Wieboldt?
Last spring, Kate Leech, special events coordinator, was running into roadblocks attempting to schedule space on the Chicago campus to host Research Computing and Data Services (RCDS) summer workshops. Many adequate spaces were either booked, under construction, or expensive. As for Wieboldt Hall 421, the room was seldom used and included less-than-desirable technology and furniture.
Kate soon approached RCDS and IT leadership about the possibility of renovating the space with updated technology and flexible layouts for a variety of meeting types that could serve all of Northwestern IT. After approval, Kate and Letty Vega, RCDS business manager, developed a plan to reimagine the multi-functional room setup with adaptable furniture and new technology.
After partnering with Northwestern IT’s Media and Technology Innovation and Administration and Finance teams and Facilities, the room has been updated, and is available to book your next workshop, team gathering, or meeting on the Chicago campus.
Room Details
The room has a capacity for 48 seats with desks, not including the presenter(s). The tables are foldable and on rollers with electrical outlets, making them easily adjustable and customizable to your meeting type needs—classroom, boardroom, lecture style, and more.
If you need the room set up in a particular way, please reserve extra time to configure the room yourself.
Tech Setup
The room is equipped with a presenter’s podium with AV connections (USB and HDMI), a large projector screen, and a dry-erase board. Handheld and lapel microphones are also included.
For video display, connect your device and ensure video output is set to “Creston.”
Reservations, Reminders, and Support
For reservations, please book directly in your Outlook Calendar with additional time before and after your event for adequate setup and cleanup. The room is listed as “Wieboldt Hall 421."
This room is self-managed by IT, so please remember to turn off any equipment, turn off all lights, and close and lock the door before leaving.
When reserving the space, you will receive an auto-generated email response that includes a door-access code required for entry. If you need help with AV equipment in the room, please contact the AV Services Team directly by calling 847-467-7666 (7-ROOM).
